Scale Reali al Grato Soglio

Scale Reali al Grato Soglio is a permanent installation created in a residential complex in the Gratosoglio district of Milan. Wolf responded to a call for proposals launched by the architect and art collector who designed the building, using light, architecture, and linear perspective to symbolically mark the boundary between the building’s time and space. He thus acted directly on the facade, portico, and entrance with a series of black and white structural elements. The use of repeated geometric shapes on the façade creates a vibrant checkerboard pattern that establishes a visual connection between the foundations and the roofline of the building. 

In the entrance hall, he placed two coloured stain glass windows featuring the same pattern as the façade with accentuated  perspectives symmetrically embracing the access route to the building. During the day, natural lighting and, at night, artificial lighting make the work alternately visible over a 24-hour period. 

The third part of the intervention addresses the building’s entrance door, whose black and white parallelograms create an experiential work of art; anyone who crosses the threshold also becomes part of the work.

Scale Reali è un’installazione permanente realizzata in un complesso residenziale nel quartiere Gratosoglio di Milano. Wolf ha risposto a una call for proposals lanciata dall’architetto e collezionista d’arte che ha progettato l’edificio, utilizzando luce, architettura e prospettiva lineare per marcare simbolicamente il confine tra il tempo e lo spazio dell’edificio. Ha così agito direttamente sulla facciata, il portico e l’ingresso con una serie di elementi strutturali in bianco e nero. L’uso di forme geometriche ripetute sulla facciata genera un vibrante motivo a scacchiera che stabilisce una connessione visiva tra le fondamenta e la linea del tetto dell’edificio.

Nel vestibolo d’ingresso ha collocato due finestre in pasta di vetro colorato caratterizzate dallo stesso motivo della facciata con prospettive accentuale che abbracciano simmetricamente il percorso di accesso al palazzo. Durante il giorno l’illuminazione naturale e di notte quella artificiale rendono visibile l’opera alternativamente nell’arco delle 24 ore.

La terza parte dell’intervento riguarda la porta d’ingresso dell’edifico, i cui parallelogrammi in bianco e nero creano un’opera d’arte esperienziale; chiunque varchi la soglia diventa anche parte dell’opera.
