The Double Life

The Double Life is the title of the installation that Silvio Wolf has created and produced for the Auditorium Conciliazione. This work consists of 7 parts, located in two different areas of the building: the Vip Room and the Chorus Room.

Silvio Wolf interprets the large public space of the Auditorium Conciliazione through traces and details of its architecture. With the use of photography and light he has created works of large scale, which convey an abstract vision of the space that has inspired him.

All photographs explore the ideas of Double and Elsewhere on different levels. The Vip Room is the symbol and the double of the Auditorium: a magical and timeless space where the pictures and the back-lit skylight are the visible thresholds between two places and two worlds, close to each others but profoundly different: on one hand we capture the energy, the vibrant life and the unceasing becoming of the Auditorium, on the other hand the suspended and rarefied space of the installation induces to pause, to reflect, to listen.

In the Chorus Room the architectural space and the large picture on the wall, creating the double image in perspective of a detail of the floor, simultaneously interact and define new relations with the architecture and a new perception of the space.
For the artist, the idea of the Double is the metaphor of a vibrant relation between the inside and the outside, the present and the elsewhere, visible and invisible that photography and light convey.

La Doppia Vita è il titolo dell’installazione che Silvio Wolf ha concepito e realizzato per l’Auditorium Conciliazione di Roma. L’opera si compone di 7 parti, collocate in due diversi spazi dell’edificio: La Sala Vip e la Sala del Coro.

L’artista interpreta il grande spazio pubblico dell’Auditorium attraverso tracce e particolari della sua architettura. Utilizzando il mezzo fotografico e la luce ha creato opere fotografiche di grandi dimensioni, caratterizzate da una visione astratta e combinatoria del luogo che l’ha ispirato.

Tutti i lavori esplorano a più livelli le idee di Doppio e di Altrove. La sala Vip è il simbolo ed il doppio dell’Auditorium; un luogo magico e sospeso nel tempo, in cui le opere a parete ed il grande lucernario retro-illuminato sono le visibili soglie tra due luoghi e due mondi, attigui ma profondamente diversi: da un lato percepiamo l’energia, la vita pulsante e il continuo divenire dell’Auditorium, dall’altro lo spazio rarefatto e sospeso dell’Installazione, che invita all’arresto, alla riflessione e all’ascolto.

Nella Sala del Coro lo spazio architettonico e la grande opera fotografica a parete, che sviluppa il doppio motivo prospettico d’un particolare del pavimento, interagiscono simultaneamente definendo nuove relazioni con l’architettura e una nuova percezione dello spazio.

Per l’artista, l’idea del Doppio è la metafora d’una relazione vibrante tra interno ed esterno, presente ed altrove, visibile ed invisibile che la fotografia e la luce trasmettono.
